My research is about mineral formation and the physico-chemical conditions involved. In particular, I look at the ratio of the building blocks of the mineral in the solution and its influence on mineral formation. I also look at ways to improve the drinking water softening treatment process during the production of drinking water and to make it more sustainable. This ratio also plays a role there.

Batch and flow dynamic light scattering experiments show the effect of solution stoichiometry on the kinetics (nucleation and growth) of the formed mineral (barite).

Cross-polarized light, dynamic light scattering and molecular dynamics simulations show the effect of solution stoichiometry on the timing and size of the formed calcium carbonate.
