Seline Trevisanut has held the chair of International Law and Sustainability at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 since 1 February 2018. She joined Utrecht in 2012 as Marie Curie Fellow and, in the period 2012-2014, mainly worked on her research project 鈥淭he International Law of Offshore Installations: Cutting Through Fragmented Regimes Towards Better Governance鈥 (CUP, forthcoming). In December 2014, she was granted an ERC Starting Grant for her project 鈥淎ccommodating New Interests at Sea: Legal Tools for Sustainable Ocean Governance鈥 (Sustainable Ocean). The project ran from October 2015 to January 2021 and studied how the law can contribute to the sustainable use of the oceans. It aims to offer a theory of interest- and regime-interaction in ocean governance. It focused on the interplay between the law of the sea, climate change law and energy law. Since September 2022, Seline is leading the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 research unit for the (2022-2025).

She also conducts research within the and teaches general international law, international environmental law and ocean law and policy.

Before joining Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, Seline conducted research and taught in many academic institutions including Columbia 木瓜福利影视, the European 木瓜福利影视 Institute, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, and the Universities of Cagliari, Milan and Trento. She holds a law degree from the 木瓜福利影视 Paris 1 Panth茅on-Sorbonne (Maitrise en Droit) and a PhD in international law from the 木瓜福利影视 of Milan.

Seline is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institut du droit 茅conomique de la mer and several editorial boards, including for the and . Her publications include a monograph on Irregular migration by sea in international and EU law (Jovene 2012, in Italian), and edited volumes, inter alia, on Energy from the Sea: An International Law Perspective on Ocean Energy (Brill 2015), Migration in the Mediterranean: Mechanism of International Cooperation (CUP 2015) and (Brill 2020).

Research interests: public international law, law of the sea, environmental law, energy law, human rights law, refugee law, investment law.
