Rhoda Woets is a cultural anthropologist who works at UCU as an anthropology teacher, fellow and tutor. Her PhD- research (2011) explored the underlying ideological premises and contestations underpinning the category of modern and contemporary Ghanaian art since its inception in colonial times. Woets has been writing about art in Ghana ever since. She conducted research in Accra (Ghana) on the appropriation of mass-produced Jesus pictures that circulate globally and the meanings of African wax cloth (prints). Her latest research looks at the role of fashion during Ketikoti in Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
