I am a postdoctoral researcher studying forms and effects of sustainable public procurement.
The procurement of goods, works and services by the public sector represents about 17% of the global economy. Because of this large economic share, public procurement can be used strategically to further increase social value. By including environmental goals in procurement decisions, for example, governments can reduce the carbon footprint of their procurement, while also driving supplier sustainability and innovation.
My current research is in line with my PhD research. During my PhD, I investigated why public sector organisations do or do not make sustainable procurement efforts and which forms of procurement are most suitable for (multifaceted) public value creation.
Besides research, I teach the course Public Procurement, together with Fredo Schotanus, to the Master students of Science and Business Management and supervise theses.
The chair is funded by the Ministries of Defence, BZK/DGOO and J&V, Municipalities Amsterdam & The Hague, the Tax Authority, National Police, RIS, UWV, Stichting Rijk in collaboration with Nevi. For additional research projects, funding was obtained from the EU (Demotrans) and the IKEA foundation (SKAO CO2 Performance Ladder).
