Hidden in layers of sediments lie the microscopic remnants of ancient life — silent witnesses to Earth's climatic transformations.

My name is Maythira Sriwichai. I am a PhD candidate at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ, working under the supervision of Francesca Sangiorgi and Peter Bijl as well as Mei Nelisson.

My research investigates ocean and cryosphere variability in the polar regions using marine palynology — the study of fossilized remains of marine organisms, dinoflagellate cysts, as proxies for reconstructing past environmental and climate conditions. I aim to understand how marine and atmospheric systems responded to natural climate shifts in Earth's history.

In addition to my focus on polar paleoceanography, I am passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and field-based science.
