Hi there! Welcome to the university page of Maurizio (Maurice) Montone.

I am an associate professor of finance here at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. My research examines how investor behavior shapes asset prices, employment, and economic growth. I study sentiment-driven fluctuations in financial markets and their real economic consequences, with recent work extending to environmental performance and climate-related investment. Core themes include the interaction between behavioral biases and macroeconomic outcomes, political influences on financial markets, and the efficiency implications of institutional investor behavior. Methodologically, I combine theoretical asset pricing with large-scale empirical analysis.

My research network include several collaborations across the EU, UK, and US. Our papers have been widely disseminated through presentations at 100+ research seminars and international events, including top-tier conferences such as the American Finance Association (AFA), American Economic Association (AEA), and Financial Management Association (FMA). They have also appeared in the working paper series from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Our joint efforts have led to publications in high-impact academic journals, gaining significant attention from the academic community with over 4,000 downloads on .

In addition to research, I am a certified educator, holding both the 木瓜福利影视 Teaching Qualification and the Senior Teaching Qualification (see here for details). I have taught a wide range of economics and finance courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels, consistently receiving positive course evaluations. Furthermore, my academic duties include course coordination, curriculum development, and extensive thesis supervision.

I also hold several managerial and administrative roles. As the Thesis Coordinator for our three Finance Master's programs, I oversee the work of over 200+ students and 20+ supervisors. I am also a member of the Degree Program Committee, which advises on the quality control of our graduate studies. Additionally, I contribute to the Series Advisory Board for World Scientific Publishing, act as an external reviewer for several institutions and events within my network, and serve as a referee for a wide range of well-known academic journals.
