Martine Meuwese is Assistant Professor in medieval art. She studied art history in Leiden, specialising in medieval art, medieval French literature and manuscript studies. As a researcher at the Leiden 木瓜福利影视 NlcM project (Dutch literature and culture in the Middle Ages) she wrote a dissertation on the relationship between text and image in illustrated manuscripts of Jacob van Maerlant's Rijmbijbel and Spiegel Historiael. She worked as a Research Assistant for the Lancelot-Graal project at the 木瓜福利影视 of Pittsburgh, was Research Associate at Cambridge 木瓜福利影视 for the Cambridge Illuminations Project, and Postdoc at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 for the NWO research project 'Arthurian manuscripts'. She was lecturer in Art History at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, Nijmegen 木瓜福利影视, and at the Open 木瓜福利影视. From 2011 onwards she is Assistant Professor in medieval art at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视.
She curated three exhibitions: two in Museum Meermanno Westreenianum in The Hague and one in the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica, Amsterdam.
