We often see technology as something separate鈥攂ut that鈥檚 a misunderstanding. Technology is never just the tool itself. It鈥檚 shaped by doctors, institutions, decisions, and the interests behind them. It doesn鈥檛 stand apart from its context鈥攊t moves with it, and reshapes it in return.

Martijn Logtenberg is a PhD candidate exploring the social life of algorithms. His research looks at how algorithms change hospital work鈥攁nd how that work, in turn, shapes the algorithms.

He aims to understand:

  • How algorithms and professions influence each other

  • How algorithm companies rethink what healthcare can be

  • How algorithms are co-created in practice

  • How are algorithms used in everyday care

Martijn is based at the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 School of Governance (USBO) and is part of the (AlgoSoc). He holds cum laude Master鈥檚 degrees in both Data Science and Health Humanities from Tilburg 木瓜福利影视.
