Marlies Honingh is endowed professor of society oriented public administration, with a particular focus on enacting democracy. This chair was established at the request of the Netherlands School of Public Administration (NSOB). Marlies works as a senior research fellow at the NSOB. 

She is an expert in the fields of democratic erosion, and citizenship. She has published articles and book chapters on citizenship, democratic erosion, co-production, and governance in the education sector. She obtained her PhD from the ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ of Amsterdam in 2008 with her dissertation titled Vocational Education Between Public and Private.

Marlies is chair of the Dutch Association for Public Administration and chairs a program council committee of the Netherlands Initiative for Education research (NRO).
