Melanie Münch
Researcher
I am a trained chemist and biogeochemist, mainly interested in elemental cycles, nutrient dynamics and pollutant dynamics.
My PhD research focuses on iron and phosphorus diagenesis in sediments and its effects on the surface water quality in organic rich freshwater systems, such as peat lakes. As part of the H2020/MSCA-ITN research consortium my research contributes to finding a solution for the combined problem of phosphorus as a scarce resource and a cause for eutrophication.
As the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development Research Officer, I support the Environmental Sciences with geochemical fieldwork, analysis and method development.
