Karin de Vries has been an associate professor of constitutional law at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 since 1 November 2022. She previously worked as an assistant and associate professor of constitutional and administrative law at VU 木瓜福利影视 in Amsterdam, where she als wrote her PhD thesis on integration requirements in immigration law. Her research interests include human rights, non-discrimination, citizenship and migration law. Over the past years she has focused on researching the implications of the prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of race and nationality for migration and citizenship laws and for the rights of migrants and ethnic minorities in different areas, including social security.
Karin was a Max Weber Fellow at the European 木瓜福利影视 Institute in Florence (2011-2012) and at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) in Amsterdam (2021). In 2015 she was awarded a Veni grant by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) for a research project on nationality as a discrimination ground in non-discrimination law. She is a country expert on non-discrimination for the Netherlands within the and a member of the . She is also an editor of the Dutch human rights journal NTM/NJCM-Bulletin and a member of the Editorial board of the Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights.
In the near future Karin will be working on different themes related to non-discrimination and citizenship, including ethnic profiling, structural (race) discrimination and postcolonial perspectives on citizenship and the rights of migrants.
