I started my phd in December 2019 under the supervision of Dr Tom Wennekes in the field of chemical glycobiology as part of the SweetCrosstalk ITN. In my research, I am interested in among others the design and synthesis of smart molecular probes to elucidate the role of glycans in human gut in mediating the interactions between us and our gut microbiota.
Roaming at the interface of chemistry and biology, I am fascinated by the endless possibilities brought by the combination of synthetic chemistry and enzymatic synthesis (biocatalysis). I believe that nature is mankind's greatest source of inspiration, and we should learn from it and never stop trying to surpass it.
