Jellie Sierksma is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Developmental Psychology. Her research focuses on the impact of inequality on children鈥檚 cognition, emotions and behavior. How do children perceive the different groups in their society? Who do children help and why do they not help others? How can we stimulate children to reduce unequal treatment? She studies these questions by taking an interdisciplinary approach: combining insights from developmental, social psychology, educational science, sociology and by using experimental and survey methods.
Jellie obtained her Master degree in social psychology in 2009 (UVA; cum laude) and a PhD in social development in 2015 (木瓜福利影视 Utrecht). She then obtained a grant to work as a post-doc at the Radboud 木瓜福利影视 Nijmegen for 2 years, followed by a 2-year Rubicon-fellowship at the 木瓜福利影视 of Wisconsin-Madison in the USA. In 2019 she was awarded a Veni-grant by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and in 2022 she started working at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视.
In Utrecht she is a member of the Ethics Review Board of the Faculty of Social & Behavioural Sciences () and the steering committee of Migration and Societal Change.
