Dr. Jo茫o P. Trabucho Alexandre is a Dutch-Portuguese sedimentary geologist. He is tenured assistant professor in sedimentology at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 (Department of Earth Sciences). In 2011, he was awarded his doctorate cum laude at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. Before joining the faculty at Utrecht in 2014, Jo茫o worked as a postdoctoral research associate and lecturer at Durham 木瓜福利影视, UK.

Jo茫o is interested in processes and environments of deposition of mud in deep time; oceanic anoxic events and black shales; Mesozoic epeiric environments of deposition; and the Mesozoic of the Pacific (Panthalassa). In recent projects, the attention of his team has focused on the Triassic鈥揓urassic of Western North American exotic terranes, the Lower Jurassic of Yorkshire, England, and the uppermost Cretaceous of the Netherlands and Belgium.

Jo茫o is treasurer and member of the Council of Management of the , associate editor of the Journal of Sedimentary Research, Ambassador in the Netherlands of the , SEPM, and alumnus of the Utrecht Young Academy.

Jo茫o is an innovative teacher with 10+ years of experience teaching courses on undergraduate and graduate levels. He has successfully completed the programmes Educational Leadership and Honors Teaching of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视鈥檚 Centre for Academic Teaching. Jo茫o was awarded the Durham 木瓜福利影视 Learning and Teaching Award in 2013. Jo茫o is Associate Fellow of (previously Higher Education Academy, UK) and a member of the (USA).

Jo茫o likes to read, write, and talk about teaching and learning in higher education and the history of earth sciences. He loves to be out in the field examining rocks, particularly with his students.
