Charles van Marrewijk is Professor of Economics at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 School of Economics (USE, since 2008) and Head of Department (since 2022), specializing in International Trade, International Macroeconomics, Regional Science, Economic Growth, Geographical Economics, Economic Development, and Agglomeration.
Charles studied at Erasmus 木瓜福利影视 Rotterdam (The Netherlands, 1981-85) and Purdue 木瓜福利影视 (USA, 1985-1988). He previously worked at the 木瓜福利影视 of Groningen (The Netherlands, 1987-1990), Erasmus 木瓜福利影视 Rotterdam (The Netherlands, 1990-2008), and Xi'an Jiaotong - Liverpool 木瓜福利影视 (China, 2014-2017).
Charles was Head of Research at the International Institute for Housing and Urban Development (IHS, 2007-8), Tjalling Charles Koopmans Institute (TKI, 2009-13), International Business School Suzhou (IBSS, 2014-2016), and Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 School of Economics Research Institute (USE-RI, 2018-2022).
Charles has published widely in a range of top journals and wrote more than ten books for Cambridge 木瓜福利影视 Press and Oxford 木瓜福利影视 Press. The academic and scientific impact of his work is substantial. At the moment he is (co-)editor for three international academic journals.
