Jona de Jong is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. His research focusses on political polarization, social networks and intergroup conflict. He obtained his PhD from the European 木瓜福利影视 Institute and was a visiting fellow at Harvard 木瓜福利影视 and a Fulbright Schuman scholar at New York 木瓜福利影视.
His current research examines the durability and severity of two contemporary political divides: sociocultural polarization between citizens with and without tertiary education, and partisan animosity between ordinary Republicans and Democrats in the United States. He also works on a project, funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs, that examines the effect of neighborhood ethnic and educational composition, in combination with the presence or absence of social infrastructure, on trust, cohesion and polarization in the Netherlands. His work has been published in , and , and his has been awarded the for best thesis in political sociology.
