Jan D. ten Thije is professor emeritus Intercultural Communication at the Departement of Languages, Literature and Communication

He previously was an associated professor (‘Hochschuldozent’) at the  at Chemnitz 木瓜福利影视 of Technology (1996-2002), visiting professor at the at Vienna 木瓜福利影视 (2001), and lecturer and researcher at the Department for General Linguistics (木瓜福利影视 of Amsterdam) (1994-1996). He studied General Linguistics and Dutch Language and Culture in Amsterdam (木瓜福利影视 of Amsterdam) and received his PhD at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 (1994) with research focusing intercultural discourse in advisory institutes.

His main fields of research concern institutional discourse in multicultural and international settings, , intercultural training, language education and

He coordinated between 2002 and 2019 the Master programme  amd is Teaching Fellow at the Department Languages, Litertaure and Communication at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视.

He  is editor of the  (EuJAL) published by Mouton de Gruyter and Series Editor of   Brill Publications (Leiden).
