Irene Alcubilla Troughton (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in Performance and Technology, teaching at the intersection of theatre and performance studies, media and technology studies, and cognitive studies. Her PhD dissertation 鈥淢oving Together: A Performing Arts Approach to Relational Human-Robot Interaction Design鈥 investigated the role of embodiment, contextuality, and performativity in relational movement-based HRI design, using the knowledge and expertise of the performing arts. She has published and participated in both robotics and performance conferences, journals, and venues (HRI, ROMAN, Performance Research鈥). In her work, she closely collaborates with artists and designers in participatory workshops, looking at bottom-up and exploratory ways of conceptually and practically investigating the intersection between technology and art. Other interests of her lay on phenomenology, critical disability studies and queer studies.
