Emma Kasteel (PhD, ERT) is an assistant professor at IRAS. She earned her PhD in 2021 on Next Generation Risk Assessment of Chemicals, focusing on alternative (in vitro/in silico) methods for toxicity testing. Currently, she works within the project, investigating the human health effects of micro- and nanoplastics. Her research specifically explores whether these particles can cross the blood-brain barrier and the potential neurotoxic effects they may cause.
