Lotte van Kesteren is a PhD student at the department of Education. She obtained her Bachelor degree in primary education at the university of applied sciences in Leiden in 2021. Thereafter, she followed a pre-master program and obtained her Master鈥檚 degree Educational Sciences at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 in 2023. During her Master鈥檚 Thesis, she investigated the effect of practice format for the learning strategy retrieval practice on vocabulary learning outcomes of secondary school students. 

After obtaining her Master's degree, Lotte worked as an educational advisor for a year, after which she returned to Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 to expand her knowledge about effective learning strategies. Lotte's PhD project is about using videos as a homework strategy in primary education: when, why, and for whom is it motivating and effective? She is conducting her research under the supervision of Prof. dr. Tamara van Gog, Dr. Vincent Hoogerheide and Dr. Barbara Flunger.
