Healthy living environment
As a technical physician and nature lover, I am interested in how our living environment can promote health and well-being. A healthy lifestyle, community, clean air and green environment are all important components for our health. To create and research a healthy living environment, it is essential to collaborate with different disciplines; residents, government, businesses and science.
Monitoring in Cartesius
I apply this transdisciplinary collaboration in my work for the covenant ‘Building a Healthy Neighbourhood’. In this project, we focus on the Cartesius neighbourhood, implementing and monitoring evidence-based interventions in the physical, social and healthcare environment to promote the health and well-being of residents. I coordinate the consortium as well as the development and implementation of a long-term monitoring programme. Using qualitative (such as interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (such as surveys, sensors) research, we explore how design choices regarding public spaces, greenery and mobility can contribute to our physical and mental health. The Cartesius urban neighbourhood serves as a pilot area where we aim to shape, develop, and monitor a healthy living environment.
