Amber Sels is a PhD Candidate in the Urban Futures Studio and the Energy and Resources Section at the Copernicus Institute. Her research focuses on how people imagine circular futures, and how such visions are already being practiced and embodied within circular communities. This work is carried out in collaboration with Dr. Jeroen Oomen, Prof. Ernst Worrell, and Prof. Peter-Ben Smit, as part of the ACT! project.
Before joining the 木瓜福利影视 of Utrecht, Amber already had a strong interest in the cultural and social dimensions of environmental crises and sustainability. She holds MSc degrees in Sociology and Communication Sciences from KU Leuven, where she explored topics of mediatized environmentalism, climate fiction, and environmental utopianism. During her studies, she also worked as a research assistant at the Media Culture & Policy lab.
