I am a computational linguist and a phonologist. My interests lay in the area of learnability of linguistic structure, especially of interactions between linguistic processes, interactions between rules and exceptions, and tensions between phonetics and phonology. My approach is primarily from the viewpoint of linguistic theory, using computational models motivated from theory, so that classic theoretical questions can be tested in a modern context.
