Anne Janssen is a PhD Candidate at the Montaigne Centre of Rule of Law and Adminstration of Justice since 2022. Her research is interdisciplinary: combining both insights from law and social psychology. Anne examines perceived procedural justice among vulnerable litigants in civil procedure and their legal position in civil procedural law. Her research aims to understand perceptions of fairness and trust of self-representing litigants during various stages of court procedures. Furthermore, by researching civil procedural law, her research aims to strengthen the legal position of vulnerable litigants by proposing changes in civil procedure.
Prior to her PhD research, Anne was part of a collaborative research project between Radboud 木瓜福利影视, Leiden 木瓜福利影视 and Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 examining the experience of vulnerable litigants in digital hearings during COVID-19.
In addition to doing research, Anne Janssen is a board-member of the Dutch-Flemish Association for Law and Society (VSR) (secretary) and has organized various activities for PhD-candidates who conduct empirical legal research, including the yearly VSR x ELS PhD-days. Anne also teaches courses on research methodology at the university and is a core member of the Emperical Legal Studies (ELS) Lab of the School of Law.
