Bachelor (BSc), level 2 Courses

The level 2 biology course Palaeoecologie (in Dutch, partly in English, 7.5 ECTS, B-B2PALE09) is coordinated by and provides an integral overview of plant life through geologic history, as well as the evolutionary strategies and conditions plants have adapted to. Students will use original fossil material and get acquainted with the challenges of the fossil record. This course takes place in period 3 (timeslot B+C) in February /March. The palaeoecology group participates in level 2 the 鈥淟aaglandgenese鈥 field course coordinated by (GEO3-4207) integrating knowledge on past ecological change and climate with low land development in the Quaternary.

Bachelor (BSc), level 3 courses

On an advanced level, the Palaeoecology group is providing the basis to prepare students for their MSc study with the course Environmental Change through Time (EC) (in English, 7.5 ECTS) and is coordinated by . This course (period 2, timeslot A+D) provides an overview of the various techniques and background knowledge needed for making reconstructions of past climate and environment. Students get practical experience and jointly work on actual research questions.  They present their own work together with relevant background literature in reports and classroom presentations.
