Felix is a Research Fellow at the Sustainable Cooperation (SCOOP) Centre and a member of the Economic and Social History Group. He received his PhD in Economic History from the London School of Economics. Before joining Utrecht, he was a Max Weber Fellow in the Departments of Economics and Political & Social Sciences at the European ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ Institute in Florence.
Felix is an applied economist working on policy-relevant questions at the intersection of economics, history, and political economy. His research investigates the long-run evolution and determinants of wealth and gender inequality in Europe, combining newly collected archival data with modern micro-econometric and national-accounting methods. By connecting historical evidence to contemporary economic and policy debates, his work contributes to broader discussions in economics and the social sciences on inequality, development, and institutional change.
At Utrecht, Felix convenes the Cliometrics Working Group, a forum bringing together members from the History and Economics departments to exchange ideas on applying the analytical tools of economics—statistics, econometrics, and formal theory—to historical research. Scholars interested in presenting are warmly invited to contact him.
