Maanik Nath is Assistant Professor in Economic History. 

Maanik's expertise lies in Asian economic history. His book Capital Shortage, published by Cambridge ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ Press, won the Lindert-Williamson Prize for an Outstanding Book in Global Economic History (2025) as well as the Economic History Society First Monograph Prize (2024).

Maanik's ongoing research explores a range of topics including climate and agriculture, financial markets, law and institutional change, collective action and political representation, as well as health and living standards. Ultimately, his work seeks to explain the determinants of development in the developing world. Check out Maanik's for more on his published and ongoing work.

Maanik is Research Coordinator of the Economic and Social History group, a committee member of Inequality Platform, and a member of the PPE Board. He is also a consortium member of the project.
