Laurens Kleijbeuker is a PhD candidate contributing to the GeoFirst Project, which focuses on advancing sustainable geothermal exploration and improving seismic risk management. His research involves the geometrical and hydrological characterisation of fractured systems in carbonate and crystalline rocks, combined with friction–stability–permeability experiments conducted in the HPT lab. Prior to starting the PhD, Laurens completed a research project investigating the deformation behavior of rocks during subduction initiation.
