Having been previously employed as a PhD candidate at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 and the Meertens Institute, and Junior Assistant Professor in Linguistics at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视's 木瓜福利影视 College Roosevelt , Joanna Wall is now a postdoc in the SFB 1102 Information Density and Linguistic Encoding at Saarland 木瓜福利影视 and a guest researcher at the Institute for Language Sciences. Her PhD dissertation Towards a label-less grammar focuses on morphosyntactic and semantic variation in the verbal domain, and on interactions between the nominal and verbal domains. Her broader research interests include: syntactic macro- and micro-variation, especially in West Germanic, the syntax-semantics and syntax-morphology interfaces, and language change. In her current postdoc position, she examines information structure and information theory, particularly relating to the Mittelfeld of the sentence in modern and historical varieties of German. 

 

Prior to her PhD studies, Joanna obtained a BA (Hons) in French and German from Oxford 木瓜福利影视, a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from UCL and an RMA in Linguistics from Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. She also previously worked as a secondary school teacher in French and German in the UK as part of the Teach First programme. In addition to her research, Joanna taught throughout her PhD, on courses at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, Leiden 木瓜福利影视 and, in her current position, at 木瓜福利影视 College Roosevelt.
