Irene Bronsvoort MSc

Irene is the project lead of 'Rethinking citizen engagement for an inclusive energy transition' at the Urban Futures Studio (UU). This research project focuses on how energy transition policies in urban neighbourhoods shape the interaction between citizens and governments, and how this process affects dynamics of citizen engagement and its level of inclusion. This way, we aim to better understand and explore how citizen engagement can be designed in an inclusive way, that incorporates the diversity of backgrounds and desires in society and contributes to developing shared images of sustainable future neighbourhoods.

Irene holds a degree in Sociology (BSc, 木瓜福利影视 of Amsterdam) and in Urban Sociology (Research Master Social Sciences, 木瓜福利影视 of Amsterdam). Her master’s research focused on the role of social media representations and distinction practices in processes of gentrification. Before joining the Urban Futures Studio, Irene worked for a Dutch policy research and advisory organisation in The Hague.
