Research activities

In her PhD research, Eileen is currently focusing on the institutionalization and implementation of the United Nations’ Leaving No One Behind (LNOB) Principle. The LNOB principle lies at the heart of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. LNOB presents a potentially transformative approach to development, but its achievement highly depends on how LNOB is translated into action. Countries have reaffirmed their commitment to the LNOB principle in the mid-review of the SDGs and the challenge lies in making this commitment meaningful. The focus of Eileen's PhD research is therefore on identifying enabling conditions but also gaps for reaching the LNOB principle at the country level. She is currently doing a case study analysis to explore the role of political factors in shaping how institutionalisation of LNOB is (not) translated into its goal achievement.
