Dr. Marijn Zeijen is assistant professor in the Department of Social, Health, and Organizational Psychology. Her research focuses on female hormonal health dynamics in professional settings.

Currently, Marijn works on several projects. For instance, within the bloody science project she investigates how pain experiences during the menstrual phase impact work behavior and self-regulation processes, and what factors may help employees within this process. In the Cycle of Status project, Marijn investigates how status-seeking behaviors fluctuate across the menstrual cycle (follicular vs. luteal phases) and how these fluctuations are influenced by context. This project addresses questions like whether women are more motivated to seek status during the ovulatory phase and if this effect changes based on workplace inclusivity.

Menstrual health remains a taboo topic in professional settings. Marijn is committed to breaking this taboo by fostering strong dialogue with the target audience and by contributing to policies that support the needs of female employees and align with the challenges of contemporary society.

Marijn Zeijen has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2025.
