Dr. Javanshir Fouladvand
Javanshir Fouladvand is an assistant professor of Complex Energy System Design, Modelling and Governance at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, where he teaches and researches the system complexities, computational models and alternative governance modes to support the energy transition. His two main research lines are (i) institutional design, collective action, and the decommodification of energy systems and (ii) the environmental footprint of different actors, processes, products and events. He holds a PhD in complex system engineering from the Technology, Policy and Management faculty of Delft 木瓜福利影视 of Technology. He is part of several Dutch and European projects as a task and work package leader.
To facilitate and achieve a successful energy transition, there is a need to understand the systems' complexities, meaning studying the technical design, economic feasibility, different actors' behaviour, institutional settings, and governance modes together.
Javanshir Fouladvand has been a member of the Utrecht Young Academy, a bridge between young and talented researchers, since 2025.
