A blog that works

Start your blog by thinking about what you want to achieve with it. This enhances your chances you will achieve your goals and you spend your time, energy and money on a blog that works. A blog that fits the subject, the audience and yourself. You will achieve much more if you adapt your message and method to your audience and make it relevant to them.

Focus, focus, focus

If you answer the questions below it will help you focus your blog.

  1. Which goals would you like to achieve with your audience? E.g.: change their minds, exchange insights, make them enthousiastic about something. Can your audience help you in any way? E.g.: gathering or analysing data, offering new perspectives, sharpen your research questions, etc.
  2. Why is it important to reach these goals?
  3. Which phase of research do you wish to address with this audience? E.g. share results, explain how research works, test preliminary results, discuss research questions, etc.
  4. In which stage in the issue life cycle is the issue you want to talk about? This means thinking about what your audience already know about your issue, in how far the issue has already been framed in the public perception, and what you can achieve with your audience on this subject.
