- Applied Veterinary Research
The overall aim of the AVM program is to maintain the broad spectrum of veterinary specializations at FVM at a high level, by supporting research training of residents, as well as providing research time for the maintenance of the board certification of the permanent staff.

The activities of this research group are divided in Mass Spectrometry based proteomics and Mass spectrometry based structural biology.
/en/research/biomolecular-mass-spectrometry-and-proteomics - Biomorphodynamics of living river and coastal landscapes
Our aim is to understand and predict natural and human-induced dynamics of living fluvial and coastal landscapes.
/en/research/department-of-physical-geography/research/biomorphodynamics-of-living-river-and-coastal-landscapes - Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery
This research group focuses on the design, chemo- or biosynthesis of compounds with biological or (potential) medicinal applications and interaction with their receptors.
/en/research/chemical-biology-and-drug-discovery - Computational geography and earth observation
Earth observation from satellites and other platforms (aircrafts, drones) is crucial for our understanding of System Earth and to monitor processes at the Earth surface.
/en/research/department-of-physical-geography/research/computational-geography-and-earth-observation - Department of Physical Geography
Our research is directed to understanding the physical processes, patterns, and forms at the Earth's terrestrial surface.
/en/research/department-of-physical-geography - Evolution and morphodynamics of rivers, floodplains and deltas
Our Delta Evolution programme aims to develop a fundamental, data-driven understanding of the development of deltas and resulting subsurface architecture at time scales of millennia to centuries.

The GeoLab is the main laboratory facility of the Faculty of Geosciences. We have a wide range of lab facilities available for measuring bulk rock geochemistry, bulk rock stable isotopes (H, C, N, S), in situ stable and radiogenic isotopes (U,Pb-dating), in situ major and trace elements and crystallography.
/en/organisation/faculty-of-geosciences/research-facilities/geolab In Utrecht, we try to unravel the mechanisms behind infection and immunity.
- Landscape functioning and natural hazards
Our group focuses on studying natural hazards processes: including landslides and soil erosion in mountainous areas in the Alps and the Himalayas, and wind erosion and droughts in semi-arid environments like the Mediterranean region and the Sahara. The results of our studies and the outcome of our models helps society to mitigate the negative impacts of hazards.

Palaeoecology studies past environmental dynamics by means of palaeo-reconstructions combined with experiments and observations to understand past and present behavior of biota in relation to humans, climate and natural competition.
/en/research/department-of-earth-sciences/paleoclimate-biogeology - Pharmaceutics
The core activity of this research group is the design and pre-clinical testing of tailor-made drug delivery systems.
/en/research/pharmaceutics - Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology
This research group is directed at several epidemiological, therapeutic, and policy aspects of chronic drug use, especially focusing on anti-asthmatics, cardiovascular drugs, and psychotropics.
/en/research/pharmacoepidemiology-and-clinical-pharmacology - Pharmacology
This research group deals mainly with the immunopharmacology of the respiratory and gastrointestinal system.
/en/research/pharmacology This growing field converges biomedical research, innovative technology and patient care.
- Risk Assessment
The overall aim of the Risk聽Assessment of Toxic and聽Immuno-modulatory Agents (RATIA)聽program is to improve the scientific basis for assessment of risk to humans, animals, and ecosystems from exposure to potentially harmful agents in the environment, in occupational settings, through vaccination, and through the food chain.
