"FROM DATA TO STRUCTURE" MAY 26-JUNE 6, 2008, UTRECHT
Advanced NMR Workshop
"From Data to Structure"
The Bijvoet-NSR Research Alliance (BNRA), with support from the e-NMR and NMR-Life European projects, organizes an advanced NMR workshop on biomolecular structure determination by NMR and complementary techniques, including SAXS and cryo-EM. The workshop will be held in Utrecht, The Netherlands and starts on May 26th and ends on June 6th. The program combines workshop sessions in the morning with a ‘hands-on’ tutorial program in the afternoon, primarily intended for PhD and master’s students.
Workshop contents:
The workshop consists of lectures and practical sessions. Topics dealing with analysis, structure determination and validation of biomolecules will be discussed. The acquired knowledge will be directly applied in the practical sessions.
Topics & Lecturers:
- Force fields and molecular dynamics, Tsjerk Wassenaar, Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ
- Combining SAXS and NMR data in structure determination, Alexander Grishaev, NIH
- NMR structure calculations, complexes, Alexandre Bonvin, Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ
- Paramagnetic NMR, Giacomo Parigi, CERM Florence
- Use of chemical shifts for structure calculations, Yang Shen, NIH
- Automated NOE assignment & structure calculations, Torsten Herrmann, ENS Lyon
- Dipolar couplings and orientational restraints, Martin Blackledge, IBS Grenoble
- Relaxation and dynamics, Frans Mulder, Groningen ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ
- Structure validation, Geerten Vuister, Radboud ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ
- Cryo-EM, Marin van Heel, Imperial College London
Language: English
Location: The workshop will take place in the Bloembergen building at the NMR Research group in Utrecht.
Prerequisite knowledge:
The tutorial program is primarily intended for Ph.D. students and advanced undergraduate students who already have a thorough knowledge of biomolecular NMR spectroscopy. The number of participants for the tutorial program is limited to 20. Post-docs can be accepted if space allows. Experience with NMR structure determination methods is strongly recommended, together with basic knowledge of linux for the practical part.
