The human brain is a network
All brain regions are interlinked, forming one complex integrative system which is crucial for healthy cognitive functioning. Exactly how functional networks emerge and how robust they are is still unknown. This project will examine whether we can modulate functional connectivity by external stimulation to develop new insights into the plasticity and robustness of brain networks. With a novel neuromodulation-technique called ‘transcranial alternating current stimulation’ (tACS) we can modulate brain connectivity directly, in a frequency dependent manner. This will be used to influence cortico-cortical connectivity.
