Scroll to Goal: Triggering goals to guide healthy social media use
The project aims to develop effective guidelines for healthy social media use by reducing negative emotional impacts people experience when continuously scrolling through social media contents. It investigates how setting specific goals and being reminded of them while using social media can help users manage their behaviour better, reducing harmful emotional outcomes. The studies will examine the relationship between goal presence, social media use habits, and mental well-being and test a buffer effect of goal setting in social media environment. Findings will inform practical strategies to combat negative effects of social media, offering an evidence-based intervention for public health.
