Before starting the formal procedure, supervisor and student should already have reached an agreement on the project proposal (in the RP course) and done the ethical check using the .

Start of project

  1. Student submits research proposal and an ethical statement (quick scan ethical module) to Osiris Zaak and names supervisor. If full review is needed, this will be noted and added to the file in a later stage.

  2. Supervisor checks documents and assigns second examiner.

  3. Second examiner checks and confirms.

Presentation held

  1. Assessor of presentation (usually coordinator) uploads Section 2 of the form as a word document.

  2. Supervisor is notified that this assessment has been uploaded

Thesis submitted

  1. Automated plagiarism check takes place.

  2. Thesis and results of plagiarism check are sent to supervisor. Supervisor confirms plagiarism check and uploads Section 3 (supervisor version) of the form as a word document

  3. Second examiner uploads their version of Section 3 (second examiner version).

All assessments in the system

  1. Supervisor downloads the full form template.

  2. Supervisor checks that data has been sent by the student.

  3. Supervisor fills in Section 1 and copies Section 2 into the full form.

  4. Supervisor sets the final thesis grade and fills in Section 3 based on the two versions (combine the comments given, avoid repetition).

  5. Supervisor computes overall grade, based on partial grades: 15% process, 15% presentation, 70% thesis.

  6. Supervisor saves as PDF, uploads final assessment and enters final grade in Osiris Docent.

  7. Final grade and assessment are sent to the student.

  8. A new case starts automatically, requiring the student to archive the thesis.

Behind this is a complete system of standard mails and forms. The procedure described above is the default route; if there is a problem at any stage, loopbacks are built into the system. For instance, if the thesis is not approved the first time, the system will offer a means for uploading and assessing a corrected version.
