Guidelines for logo use in software and apps, on products, start-ups, and spin-offs

General Use

  • The logo may only be used with explicit permission from the university and/or the Brand Team. The university has copyright and brand rights on the logo and its use without permission can result in legal action.
  • Every use has to be in line with the Corporate Identity (think along the lines of colour, ratios, white space and typography).
  • General information about the logo and its use can be found here.

Use in software and apps

Allowed:

  • The logo may be used on official apps/software developed by OR in collaboration with the university.
  • If the app is a project within the university (a research application, for example), the logo may be used on the start-up screen, in the footer or on an "About" page.

Conditions:

  • The logo has to be approved in advance.
  • The logo may not create the impression that the university commercially supports or officially distributes the software, unless this is actually the case.
  • A disclaimer is required to be added if the software/app is a student project or research application.

Not allowed:

  • Use of the logo in app icons or on prominent sale platforms without permission.
  • Change of colours, format ratios or placement of other elements in the logo.

Use on physical products

Allowed:

  • Use on products disseminated or recognised by the university (such as promotional items).
  • Collaborations with external parties, provided this is contractually documented and approved.

Conditions:

  • The UU logo has to be shown correctly in line with the Corporate Identity.

Not allowed:

  • Use for commercial sale without a license or approval.
  • Use alongside logos of commercial brands without approval from the university.

Use by spin-offs and start-ups

Allowed:

  • Spin-offs and start-ups which are formally recognised by the university may use the logo in the context of their relationships with the university.

Conditions:

  • Only to be used in an explanatory context, such as "Start-up of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视" with accompanying text.
  • The UU logo may not be used prominently as if the spin-off is a part of the university or speaks for the university.
  • Always with explicit written permission.

Not allowed:

  • Including the university logo in corporate logos or branding of the spin-off.
  • Commercial promotion with the logo without a clear disclaimer.
