Djura Coers MSc
At high school, Djura already knew that she wanted to do something in the medical field. But what exactly, that was the question. Currently she is chairman of YOUNG and working on her PhD. Djura has an ultimate goal in mind: becoming a general practitioner (gp).
Remarkable, since at the beginning of her study the alumnus didn鈥檛 necessarily wanted to become a doctor. 鈥淏ecause of my wide interest in the medical field as a whole, I registered for the study programme Health Sciences in Amsterdam. However, after a few lectures I discovered that I did not find the courses on the policy and economic aspects of health care as interesting as I had expected. The medical subjects, on the other hand, caught my attention. That's why I switched to Medicine after a year."
This turned out to be a great choice. In 2017 the brand new doctor was allowed to take the oath. Although this was very cool, the internships and the graduation period were also unforgettable for Djura. "Graduating with a close-knit group of fellow students with whom you have exchanged years of experience and blown off steam was very nice."
Residency in third year
But why did Djura specifically choose Utrecht 木瓜福利影视? 鈥淭he university is the only one in the Netherlands to offer internships in the Bachelor's degree program. This allows you to get to know the field early and to experience whether the study suits you. For example, I discovered that a lot of topics in medicine appealed to me, including the brain and the origin of cognitive disorders. This broad interest and my enthusiasm for elderly care caused me to find my passion in general practice. After all, when it comes to topics such as dementia, the gp is often the first point of contact. 鈥 Before Djura started training as a gp in October 2018, she worked as a resident in elderly care and child and adolescent psychiatry.
In addition to her training as a gp at the Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, Djura is also working on her PhD. For this PhD research she examines the ethical and legal tension field and the value of the written advance directive in this debate.
Furthermore, Djura is chairman of YOUNG, the young alumni network of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. 鈥淚 joined YOUNG to get in touch with other alumni than those from Medicine. As a board member of YOUNG, I will stay in touch with Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. This is a nice addition to my work.鈥 Finally, Djura is a great wine lover and has obtained her wine certificate (prior education to be a vinologist).
