Willem Janssen speaks at LSA meeting on Right to Challenge and public procurement

LSA Willem Janssen

On 31 October 2019, dr. Willem Janssen spoke at the meeting of LSA bewoners (citizens’ initiative): (‘Right to Challenge and Public Procurement’). ‘’The Right to Challenge and public procurement are closely connected. In certain municipalities, local citizens initiatives have found a place within the regular flows of public finance. In other municipalities, this is financed only on an experimental basis, through initiative subsidies or from other sources. In the end, citizens initiatives often come across public procurement and need to figure out how to fit within these systems of procurement’’.

Janssen was asked to address several public procurement issues relating to the Right to Challenge to gain understanding with the twenty participants (representatives of citizens’ initiatives, the Municipalities of Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amsterdam and Tilburg) about the obstacles for citizens initiatives and how to overcome these eventually.
