Visit of Indonesian Deputy Minister for Human Rights to Utrecht 木瓜福利影视
On October 7 2025, a delegation from the Indonesian government visited the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) at the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 School of Law. Deputy Minister for Human Rights Mugiyanto, who himself has a background as a human rights activist, visited the Netherlands. In addition to visits to Dutch government agencies and the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the Deputy Minister also visited Utrecht. He spoke with Indonesian master's students at the School of Law and visited SIM, theNetherlands Institute of Human Rights.
The relatively new ministry, established as a separate department in 2024, is responsible for coordinating human rights policy among all Indonesian ministries. The deputy minister currently focuses primarily on supporting victims of large-scale human rights violations in Indonesia.
Transitional justice and dark pages from history
He specifically visited SIM because of its expertise in reparation for human rights violations and aspects of transitional justice more broadly, such as truth-finding, prosecuting perpetrators, and reparation for victims. SIM experts Antoine Buyse, Brianne McGonigle Leyh, and Julie Fraser spoke with him about the ways in which the Netherlands and Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 deal with dark pages from their own history, as well as how to incorporate this into education and research. Previous collaborations between SIM and Indonesian partners were also discussed.
