Preparations for project UNIEK, the redevelopment of the Van Unnik building, are entering a new phase. Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 is starting to search for a contractor to join the construction team, but potentially taking on the realisation, management, and maintenance for several years. Together with the selected architectural firm Mecanoo and other partners, the contractor will contribute to a future-proof and sustainable learning and working environment.

What is UNIEK?
UNIEK is not just another renovation project. It is a plan with high ambitions for the heart of the campus. That sets an example of what circular redevelopment can achieve. The project comprises four sub-tasks:
- The redevelopment of the Willem C. van Unnik building into a sustainable education, research and office building.
- The redevelopment of the grounds around the building, which will play an open and connecting role on campus.
- The realisation of a pavilion in the Study Garden, suitable for teaching, meeting and gathering and a connection between the Van Unnik Building, the Rupert Building and Casa Confetti.
- Adjustments to the entrance of the Educatorium, which will provide a natural connection with the rest of the campus.
All this ensures that UNIQUE makes an important contribution to the beating heart of the Utrecht Science Park: a lively, sustainable and inspiring environment where knowledge is shared, new ideas arise and where the university works on solutions to tomorrow's challenges.
