Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ (UU) and the (i4Policy) have formalized their commitment to supporting African entrepreneurial ecosystems by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration is part of UGlobe’s flagship initiative, Entrepreneurship-led Sustainable Development in Africa. It also reflects i4Policy’s commitment to fostering collaboration, reducing silos, and promoting complementarity rather than duplication of efforts, highlighting a shared commitment to strengthening entrepreneurship across Africa.

A Shared Vision for African Entrepreneurship

The MoU defines a framework for the two organizations to continue and reinforce their collaboration in developing and implementing a data-and-dialogue driven entrepreneurial ecosystem approach. This has been done, and will be done in joint research, education and outreach. Together, UU and i4Policy aim to advance the (AEEI) and to enhance digital tools on , a platform dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship support across the African continent. 

i4Policy will bring its on-ground experience and networks across African entrepreneurship policy spaces. Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ will provide expertise as Data and Research Lead. The university’s role will focus on generating data-driven insights and providing technical guidance for entrepreneurial ecosystem development. Both embrace a data-and-dialogue driven entrepreneurial ecosystem approach, making use and sense of big data, for participatory governance and inclusive policy-making.

Open Science

In line with the Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ’s Open Science principles and i4Policy’s dedication to providing open and free access to their resources, including access to their , all joint materials produced under this partnership will be released under a Creative Commons license. This approach ensures that the resources remain accessible and adaptable for a wider audience.

With this collaboration, UGlobe and its partners are poised to contribute to entrepreneurship and sustainable development within African economies. This MoU lays the groundwork for a partnership rooted in mutual respect, open communication, and a shared vision for Africa’s entrepreneurial future.
