UCU Student Kerrewin van Blanken Wins Research Award with Bachelor Thesis

Kerrewin van Blanken, student at Ä¾¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ College Utrecht (UCU), received the Research Award at the Student Research Conference 2017 in the category Humanities & Law. The UU-student was awarded the title for his bachelor thesis Historical Consciousness and Hanseatic identity in Deventer 1578-1672. Kerrewin received a prize of a thousand euros.

Bachelor research from young research talent is put in the spotlights at the annual Student Research Conference. The Review Committee received a total of 96 submissions from Dutch and Flemish universities and universities of applied sciences this year. 58 students were selected to present their paper on November 15th, based on quality, societal relevance and originality. Amongst the selected students were – besides winner Kerrewin – nine other students from Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ.

Prizes

At the conference, which was held at ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ College Roosevelt in Middelburg this year, a professional jury awarded one student with a research award in each of the four categories of this year: Humanities & LawEconomics & Social Sciences, Natural & Biomedical Sciences and Applied Sciences.

Audience prizes were also awarded for best poster and best workshop.
