UCU participates in Open Monument Day
A great opportunity for UCU alumni to bring friends and family to campus and share both their own memories as well as learn some fun facts they may not have known before about our beloved campus!
On Saturday 8 September, UCU is joining the Open Monument Celebrations by sharing our historical knowledge of campus with the public. A self-guided tour with multiple stops at the monuments on the International Campus Utrecht will be available to visitors. In cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, we hope to bring military vehicles and soldier reenactments to campus. Visitors will be free to enter both our campus as well as the adjacent Ministry of Defense.
Old photos and explanatory plaques will guide visitors through our campus’s rich history, and a number of history lectures (in Dutch!) will be open to the public. The lecture program includes talks by UCU’s former Dean Rob van der Vaart: ‘Erfgoed Rond de Waterlinieweg’ and by UCU’s History Fellow Dr. Jos van der Linden: ‘Waarom verloor Duitsland de tweede Wereld Oorlog?’.
When: Saturday 8 September 2018, 10:00-17:00
