Three CCHR fellows are new research partners of Oxfam Novib
Dr (Literature, Media and Performance), Dr (Gender Studies) and Maartje Willemijn Smits MA (alumna ) will be research partners in a global project of Oxfam Novib. As members of the focus area (CCHR), they will contribute to the E-motive Going Global project, which aims to build a digital platform to stimulate the exchange of knowledge and ideas between the global South and North.
Building (digital) bridges between North and South
The E-Motive network was launched by Oxfam Novib, and brings together organisations across the globe. It started from the motivation to establish connections between citizens, experts and organisations from Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Middle East, to share successful methods developed in the Global South.
With the new project ‘Going Global’, E-motive wants to create a space that contributes to raising awareness on global interdependencies, yet not only in terms of exchanges from South to North, but also North to South, and South-South, as well as North-North. The aim of the E-motive Going Global project is to build a digital platform with digital tools for all the participating organisations and to stimulate the exchange of their knowledge and the building of new connections.
Also, the digital platform will provide a space for ‘multiple learning’ and thereby transcend the mutual exchange between the global South and North. Instead, it will provide a horizontal network space in which organisations can find new network connections and share their expertise with others.
CCHR Research partners
For the Going Global project, three pilot projects have been selected which were already part of the E-motive network:

Oxfam Novib has requested the expertise from Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ to build a research design that will be included in a large EU grant proposal, as well as other funding proposals, for which this project will apply in the summer. With the support of the research focus area , an interdisciplinary team has been formed, coordinated by Dr Eugene van Erven, Dr Domitilla Olivieri and Maartje Willemijn Smits MA. With the help of other scholars, this team will design and implement a research methodology to critically evaluate the three pilot projects.
