The prize is awarded annually by The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals to the author of the most innovative book on British press in the nineteenth century. According to the jury, this study of 'visual news culture' in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia is an example of what transnational research could look like in the future and of an intelligent awareness of the interaction between archival research and digital resources.
