The New Utrecht School competes for the Dutch Higher Education Award

The project The New Utrecht School in the medicine programme will compete on behalf of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 for the Dutch Higher Education Award issued by the Ministery of Education, Culture and Science.

The New Utrecht School in the medicine programme

Today's complex challenges in the health domain require close cooperation between professionals from different fields. The New Utrecht School (DNUS) wants to educate future doctors who are capable of cooperating well, also outside the boundaries of medicine, and who are creative and flexible, with the interests of patients and society in mind. Moreover, they should learn to apply their knowledge and skills in still unknown and uncertain situations ("adaptive performance"). The way DNUS aims to achieve this is, among other things, by having medical students collaborate with students from other programmes on complex topical issues in innovative educational projects.

Dutch Higher Education Award

The Dutch Higher Education Award recognises educational innovation at universities and higher professional education and is also intended as an important sign of appreciation for education teams that deliver top performances. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science divides two times three sums of money among six nominated education teams; three education teams from higher professional education and three education teams from universities.

  • the highest award of the Dutch Higher Education Award is 1.2 million euros
  • the second place of the Dutch Higher Education Award is 800,000 euros
  • the third place of the Dutch Higher Education Award is 500,000 euros

Recognition and Rewards

There are many awards for the research achievements of scientists. Because their education deserves the same appreciation, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science created the Dutch Higher Education Award. The ministry annually awards 2.5 million euros for three Dutch Higher Education Awards for higher professional education and 2.5 million euros for the three Dutch Higher Education Awards for university education.

Higher education institutions can nominate one team that has delivered a major or special performance for the renewal and/or improvement of higher education.

The Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning (CAT) has coordinated the nomination and provides support in applying for grants to improve and renew education at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. For more information on all grants and prizes, visit the CAT website or send an email to cat@uu.nl.
